Beneath the layers of our make-up; clothing; and careers, lies a soul in each of us that is both uniquely beautiful and uniquely flawed.
Deep inside, we yearn for someone to accept us for who we really are.
In Studio Asobi’s <Under The Skin> series, local ceramic artist Lee Huiwen fuses different clay bodies by hand in the traditional Japanese technique of nerikomi,
to celebrate the beauty in diversity and God’s equal and unconditional love for all of us.

There is no one else in the universe who is exactly like us.
Because each of us is handmade, with our own purpose.
We fuse different clay bodies together and reveal their natural colours and veins.
Because we believe beauty is found when we can all be true to ourselves and one another.

May these vessels carry you to a place of peace and joy,
As you sip that matcha or partake in the grains of rice,
In gratitude of yet another day of life, freely given to us to make the best of time.
