Last Sunday, we had the privilege of participating in a meaningful and interesting art therapy programme for a group of 9 to 12-year-olds from Fukushima, whose lives were dramatically altered by the disaster in 2011. It was a joy to see how these children took to clay, exploring its possibilities and freely expressing themselves! We are thankful for the group of volunteers and translators; Goodman Ceramic Studio for the venue and firing support; as well as Jacqueline for taking the photos:) If you are interested to find out more about the programme or to be a befriender, the group is here till 6 Aug and is hosted by Today Is The Day Foundation. Their works from the art therapy sessions would also be displayed for 2 weeks at Scape starting from 7 Aug! 24th July was also our 5th year wedding anniversary, and this was a very special way to celebrate our journey together as a couple! We thank God for blessing our love for each other and enabling us to love others:) #arttherapy #clay #pottery #ceramics #workshop #love #hope #joy #studioasobi #singapore

Two years ago during my sabbatical, a question came to mind – how many sunsets can one witness and admire in a lifetime? At that moment I couldn’t help but mourn for the numerous sunsets and sunrises I had missed. And for the rest of my studio stay in Japan, I did not miss a single sunset. No matter what I was doing, I put it down, got on my bicycle and headed to the river. And I was glad I did. This sake set which reminds me of the glorious sunsets, is a gift I made for a dear friend who lives her life in a manner that seizes the day!:) #handmade #陶器 #さけ #sake set #pottery #ceramics #tableware #studioasobi #madeinsg #sabbatical #sunset #musings #carpediem

A few weeks ago we broke the glass lid of our crock pot. The shock of seeing the glass fall and shatter all over the kitchen floor was followed by the palpable guilt of “I messed up big time…”. But then we remembered that we are potters, and potters make pots. So the glass lid is no more, and in its place is now a beautiful clay lid, one of its kind in this world. But more than a clay lid, it is a reminder that God has taken our old selves – what we had thought was beautiful enough – and broken it apart. And in our brokenness He has given us a new body that is beyond anything we could have dreamed of, so that we can truly rejoice in Him. #studioasobi #broken #rebirth #rejoice #ceramics #madeinsingapore #lid #plate
