捕风捉影 | A chasing after the wind This morning I saw this reflected on our floors. Our blinds were closed, but as they were facing downwards, the bright sun still entered into our living room through the gaps and it was beautiful. A brief moment later, the scene faded. Clouds outside must have temporarily passed over the stream of light. What is vain and what can stand the test of time? Money? Glory? Approval of men? What can bring true lasting joy and fulfillment? Only the things that stand on truth will hold firm when the waves come crashing down. Anything built on moving sands may look sturdy for a while, but it all goes away like the passing glimpse of light when the trials come. The world promises much, but in the end it doesn’t satisfy. 一切乃过眼云烟。There is a far better answer – which is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. And it is our hope, that everyone shall find this answer. #light #Ecclesiastes #reflections #life #faith #hope

Last Sunday, we had the privilege of participating in a meaningful and interesting art therapy programme for a group of 9 to 12-year-olds from Fukushima, whose lives were dramatically altered by the disaster in 2011. It was a joy to see how these children took to clay, exploring its possibilities and freely expressing themselves! We are thankful for the group of volunteers and translators; Goodman Ceramic Studio for the venue and firing support; as well as Jacqueline for taking the photos:) If you are interested to find out more about the programme or to be a befriender, the group is here till 6 Aug and is hosted by Today Is The Day Foundation. Their works from the art therapy sessions would also be displayed for 2 weeks at Scape starting from 7 Aug! 24th July was also our 5th year wedding anniversary, and this was a very special way to celebrate our journey together as a couple! We thank God for blessing our love for each other and enabling us to love others:) #arttherapy #clay #pottery #ceramics #workshop #love #hope #joy #studioasobi #singapore

It can be hard to remain optimistic in the waves of violence, hatred, exploitation and oppression that we glean from the global news at an increasing intensity. There is so much injustice and unfairness that makes one weep. Fear squeezes the life out of people and scars are cut repeatedly till the body becomes numb. What then can we do? How then shall we respond? There are no clear and easy answers. I am praying for mercy and compassion to turn the tides around, where faith, hope and justice can reign again. I am praying for seeds of peace and love to germinate and sprout like it is springtime. May selfishness and pettiness be plucked up like useless weeds and cast away. #reflections #prayer #faith #hope #love #mercy #justice #compasion #freedom

We woke up really early this morning to catch the sunrise. But as we rode along the river, the clouds started to close in and even though we rode on, it wasn’t with much hope that we would see anything beautiful. Indeed, when we reached the bridge at Lorong Halus, the sky was already turning bright and still the sun remained shrouded behind the looming clouds. Slightly disappointed, we turned back and comforted ourselves with the prospect of a hearty breakfast. A few minutes later, we turned our heads to catch a last glimpse behind, and to our joy we saw the sun emerging splendidly from the mountain of clouds. What a sight. Yes, no matter what our plans are for today, tomorrow, next year – life happens. Sometimes we get what we desire, sometimes we don’t. But today we are reminded that we can always face this life with hope, because our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. When we think we have missed the sunrise, let’s remember to look around us and ask ourselves, “Did I miss something?” #sunrise #hope #joy
