Good morning! We were greeted with this beautiful sunrise while we were out for an early cycle. The rays were so gentle, yet so bright and they illuminated all the different types of clouds which were hanging out together in the skies! We paused many times to take in the changing beauty and I couldn’t help but notice how many others along the PCN didn’t stop to look and marvel. Why was that the case? Was this too common a sight for them that they have grown numb? Or, did they simply miss this because they were not present at that moment and were too preoccupied in their minds? It is too easy and convenient to miss out on the simple joys in life. We haven’t been out cycling in the morning for some time too. May we all learn to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom! :) #morning #sunrise #nature #singapore #simplejoys

It is by grace we passed the dark night to enter into a new day of life. What a wonderful gift! St Paul’s words to the Corinthians “having nothing, and yet possessing everything” struck me this morning as I looked out to these beautiful trees. How often in the world we actually see the opposite happening. As an artist, that is what I appreciate about nature. Its beauty transcends the mind and meets with the soul. And how blessed to be nourished this morning in this manner:) Happy Saturday to you too! #grace #inspiration #art #trees #nature

It is behind darkness that light shines most beautifully. This morning, sprinting our bicycles down the river to catch the sunrise, we discover a glimpse of what it must be like to be in hungry pursuit of God – in search of this beauty that is out of this world. And although the cares and worries of this life sometimes obscures the light, we know where to find it every morning – if we open our eyes early enough, if we ride hard enough. #reflections of the #morning #hungerforGod #singapore #nature

Today is our day of sabbath and we wander into a Healing Garden. There is a wondrous canopy from the fig trees granting us shade. Flowing waters over the rock wall surround us, and there is the sound of two happy hearts :) Habakkuk 3:17-18: “Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” #sabbath #botanicgardens #nature #singapore #figtrees #habakkuk

As much as we desire to see beautiful things, the state of the world isn’t pretty. There is evil that threatens to destroy and disrupt; there is greed that plasters over the conscience which makes exploitation and deceit okay. There are people who are struggling to keep themselves and their loved ones alive to see another day, and there are those who are dying a slow death because of the irresponsible acts committed by others in stripping their land and polluting their water streams. So, what can be done? I can’t make a dent in solving these mammoth issues, but I don’t wish to turn a blind eye and look the other way either. So we asked ourselves – can we live differently? Instead of cultivating an insatiable appetite of needs and wants, we can delight in the simple lifestyle. Instead of fearing we won’t have enough, we can share the little that we have with others who need it more than we do. Instead of participating in hate and divisions, we can work to build up empathy and compassion. Instead of creating more things that feed into the throwaway culture, we make things that last beyond a lifetime. We are working towards reducing unnecessary consumption to reduce waste, and also to reduce the amount of chemicals that get into our water streams by making our own household & personal cleaning agents. As we started paying more attention, we are discovering more and more ways to be a better steward of our earth’s resources. If you have stories or tips about what you are doing, do share them! We would love to hear from you :) The more we can all chip in to build a better culture, the better it would be! #musings #environment #nature #sustainability #conservation #stewardship #culture #maker #singapore #pottery #ceramics
